K R A C H T D I E R - En daar kwam ze mijn leven ingevlogen....Kerkuil....sinds een paar weken duikt ze dag en nacht op. Haar hypnotiserende roep wekt me 's nachts, ze verschijnt in mijn dromen, ik vind haar in de vorm van kunst of alledaagse dingen opvallend vaak op mijn pad.... Kerkuil helpt me om naar binnen te keren, de donkere helft van het jaar te verwelkomen. Ruimte te scheppen voor stilte om te kunnen zien en horen wat verborgen is. Dankbaar voor haar magische aanwezigheid en wijze lessen. E A R T H . M E D I C I N E -- Overal waar ik ben vind ik klaprozen op mijn pad. Niet alleen verschijnen ze in de tuin uit het niets, ik zie ze in het bos waar ik ze nooit eerder zag, hoor Nina Simone 'toevallig' Poppies zingen op de radio en stuit al even toevallig op een foto van NASA, waarop vanuit de ruimte te zien is hoe overvloedig de klaprozen dit jaar bloeien in de VS. .
De klaproos versterkt zowel de verbinding met je vrouwelijke kracht als die met Moeder Aarde....en laat ik dat nu net nodig hebben na een tijd 'in mijn hoofd' te zijn geweest! Maar pas toen ik die indrukwekkende foto van NASA zag begreep ik dat de klaproos een collectief medicijn is; deze pioniersplant trekt niet alleen mijn aandacht, maar onze aandacht. Van de mensheid, vrouwen én mannen! Ze willen ons ondersteunen in het versterken van onze vrouwelijke kant, onze intuïtie. Ze willen ons begeleiden om meer in verbinding te leven met Moeder Aarde, ons thuis. Deze prachtige plant is een collectief medicijn dat ons helpt om, na de corona-crisis, daadwerkelijk anders te gaan leven. In harmonie met onszelf, met elkaar en met Moeder Aarde. .

In spring she lets us harvest her blossoms and leaves, in this time of year we may ask her to share her lovely berries with us. We can use these valuable ingredients to brew tea, to prepare jam, jelly, tincture or for smudging.

P O O R T W A C H T E R - Meidoorn (Crataegus) helpt je om je grenzen te bewaken. Deze prachtige en imposante boom helpt je niet alleen om tegelijkertijd je hart te openen, maar ze heelt het hart ook. In de lente laat ze ons haar bloesem en verse blaadjes oogsten en in deze tijd van het jaar vragen we haar of ze haar bessen met ons wil delen. We gebruiken deze waardevolle ingrediënten om thee van te zetten, jam, jelly en tincturen van te bereiden en om mee te smudgen. .

Meidoorn helpt ons om ons te verbinden met de 'andere wereld', en dat past ook bij deze tijd van het jaar, want op 31 oktober is de sluier tussen onze wereld en de andere wereld heel dun. .

Vraag een plant, boom of struik altijd om toestemming als je wilt oogsten! Neem alleen wat je nodig hebt voor eigen gebruik, max 1/4. Laat de rest voor de dieren en de plant zelf. Een 'dank je wel' wordt zeer op prijs gesteld!😊

M E D I C I N E from the forest! The forest heals not only our body, but our mind and soul as well....When we take a 'bath' in the forest, walking very slowly or sitting and opening all our senses -shinrin yoku!- we can experience that. Brewing tea, smudging and preparing tinctures of these lovely ingredients are other ways to connect with the healing power of the forest. This is a detail of our beloved old herb closet!🌳🌿 .

'Medicijnen' uit het bos! Het bos heelt niet alleen ons lichaam, maar ook onze geest en ziel. Dat ervaren we tijdens het bosbaden, als we onze pas vertragen en onze zintuigen activeren (=shinrin yoku), maar het bereiden van thee, tincturen en het branden van deze waardevolle ingrediënten uit het bos, zijn andere manieren om je te verbinden met haar helende kracht. R O W A N B E R R Y - Not that long ago people here in the Netherlands thought that rowanberries are poisonous! Nowadays we know better and we use them in our autumnal kitchen. You'll have to cook them though. Today we made this delicious rowanberry-jelly, as always in this time of year! It has such a delicious bittersweet taste....would you like to try? .

Nog niet zo lang geleden werd hier in Nederland gedacht dat lijsterbessen giftig zijn! Nu weten we beter en gebruiken we ze in onze herfstkeuken! Je moet ze wel altijd koken. Vandaag hebben we deze heerlijke jam van lijsterbes gemaakt, zoals altijd in deze tijd van het jaar. Het heeft een heerlijke bitterzoete smaak... wil je het proeven?

I run my own forest school now, the Shinrin Yoku Academy, where a lovely team and I teach the art of forest bathing and other magical courses, like forest foraging and communicating with trees.

It was only later in my life that I found out about the symbolism of sheep: they represent an innocent aspect of yourself. If you see sheep in your dreams, that symbolizes progress. In China sheep are symbols of good luck and prosperity. A U T U M N - Today it's the autumnal equinox and nature teaches us 3 lifechanging lessons... 1. Night and day are equal on the whole planet. Nature teaches us to let our dark side in and get some balance between fun and difficult emotions 2. Letting go of what you don't need any more; leaves are falling and nature shows us the end of the life cycle. 3. Have faith that you'll be alright - although the dark months are coming, we all know spring will always be back; don't be afraid to never be in the light again when you let your dark side in and let things go! L O V E - I N - T H E - M I S T - this is the delicate, blue flower of Nigella sativa in our garden last night. I grow these stunning beauties not only because of their subtle and magical appearance between other flowers like pelargonium, but also because of their edible seeds: black cumin. Which has nothing to do with 'normal' cumin seeds though...these smell of fennel and have a slightly peppery taste and the seeds are often used in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine.
